Actresses Kerry Washington (left) and Joy Bryant (right) bookend Majora Carter, CEO of the Majora Carter Group, at the inaugural Uptown Girl Power Benefit. Held in the Bronx under a tent in Father Gigante Plaza, the event honored fellow “uptown girls” (Ms. Washington, Ms. Bryant and Ms. Carter are all from the Bronx) and raised money for public art projects that empower women and girls. The first project is a mural and it can now be seen in all its glory in the South Bronx @825 Hunts Point Avenue.
